Visa for 1 night to switch planes to other destination

I am flying into Shanghai for 23 hours to catch my flight to Thailand which is my final destination for 71 days.
I will also be flying into Shanghai again for 5 hours for my connecting flight back.
Do I need a Visa for China?

Sherry, you don't need a visa for China on both ways.
