About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit FAQ

Can you use the visa in both directions?

Example if I land in Shanghai for 18 hours on the way to Thailand, can I then use the same or a new visa if I have another 20 hour stopover on the way back? The whole trip would by booked under one return trip and UK passport.

Yes each visa free transit is evaluated separately. Once you depart you are allowed to transit again. Even the same day if you wanted to.
