About:China Visa on Arrival

Australia to Hainan VOA

My family and I will be travelling to Hainan direct from Melbourne, is it easy to obtain a VOA at Hainan airport. We will not be travelling to the mainland, however would we be allowed to on the VOA if the opportunity presented?
We will be arriving quite early in the morning (07:15) will the office be open at this time? Our 2 toddlers will be with us and if we can avoid waiting till the office opens or should we look at a 30 visa free with a travel agency?

You are definitely advised to use 30 day visa free access because with this option you will travel with complete peace of mind. Of course, this will require a couple of days of correspondence with local Hainan agency and a booking of some of their services, but you will travel with absolute peace of mind because you will be supplied with some kind of an invitation letter. Quite the contrary, when you decide to travel to Hainan based on VOA, you are really playing a roulette because all the airport authorities are reluctant to allow the boarding to those passengers, with the exception of those in Hong Kong and Macau. When traveling on Hainan VOA, you can never know whether you will be allowed to board the plane, but with 30 day visa free access, you are perfectly safe.

To be honest, I also prefer Hainan VOA because it allows you to visit some other part of mainland China using this same VOA and then to travel back to your country. Anyway, using a Hainan VOA is not safe anymore.
