Changing from 'Residence Permit for Work' to another form of visa

I have been working in Shanghai for 2 years, my contract and simultaneously my residence permit for work ends in January. I won't be extending my working contract, but need another month after the contract/residence permit ends to make some arrangements for returning back to my home country. Is there a possibility to change from working permit to eg. one month tourist visa without leaving Shanghai? Thank you very much.

Yes, you can. Generally, when you cancel your work permit and residence permit at the local exit and entry administration, the officer will give you a one-month tourist visa upon your request.
