About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Do Nigerians need a visa in advance to transit through China?

I have a 7 hour layover in Macau. I’m traveling from Japan to Vietnam and will transit through Macau. Would I need to get a visa in advance or a 24 hour visa on arrival? I have a Nigerian passport.

According to Timatic for Nigerian national:
Transit - Macao (SAR China) (MO)

TWOV (Transit Without Visa):
Passengers with a confirmed onward ticket for a flight to a third country within 48 hours. They must stay in the international transit area of the airport and have documents required for the next destination.

hello Loiuse, I see some website says if we are going through Schenzen airport then it could be an issue, please assist me. I hv a malaysian passport and my partner has a nigerian passport and the flight we are looking at is having a transit in Schenzen airport. Are we both eligible to be in the airport for 24hrs?

Oli, you have written your post in several parts of this website, but you forgot to write a single detail about your itinerary. OK, maybe your itinerary is the one from Japan to Thailand via Macau, that you have already asked in some other place. Never mind. If your itinerary is eligible, i.e. follows the pattern:

A country - B country (China) - C country

And your layover is less than 24 hours, then a Nigerian citizens is eligible and doesn't need any kind of visa, but a Malaysian needs a transit (G) visa obtained in advance. The reason for this anomaly is in the fact that Chinese immigration authorities have, for an unknown reason, denied every single visa free transit option to Malaysian citizens at the time being. I hope that this temporary ban will be lifted soon, but at the time being only a transit (G) visa is the way for Malaysians to travel via China with peace of mind.
