Oli, you have written your post in several parts of this website, but you forgot to write a single detail about your itinerary. OK, maybe your itinerary is the one from Japan to Thailand via Macau, that you have already asked in some other place. Never mind. If your itinerary is eligible, i.e. follows the pattern:
A country - B country (China) - C country
And your layover is less than 24 hours, then a Nigerian citizens is eligible and doesn't need any kind of visa, but a Malaysian needs a transit (G) visa obtained in advance. The reason for this anomaly is in the fact that Chinese immigration authorities have, for an unknown reason, denied every single visa free transit option to Malaysian citizens at the time being. I hope that this temporary ban will be lifted soon, but at the time being only a transit (G) visa is the way for Malaysians to travel via China with peace of mind.
