Can I apply as a NZ-tourist for a China visa?

Hi, I am a German tourist in NZ. Since I have no time to go back to Germany before China can I apply at the embassy in Auckland for a tourist visa to China? I was worried cause it says in 5a.: For those not applying in their country of citizenship, a proof of legal stay or residence status is required.

Yes, it's possible. The proof of legal stay can be your visa for New Zealand. If you don't need a visa there, your passport bearing the entry stamp can work.
