About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

SFO >>HKG >>SZX>>PNH

Is 24hr visa-free transit an option if I want to fly into Hong Kong then take the ferry to Shenzhen and continue on to Cambodia the same day?

If I acquire a visa before arrival, is there a less expensive option? As it seems a VOA is about the same price as a 10yr multi entry visa.

Yes, you would, but you should also have in mind that the price of Shenzhen VOA for US citizens is 956 CNY.

One more detail. You have to take care about the opening hours of Shenzhen Shekou port visa office: 9:00 - 13:00 & 14:30 - 17:00.

If the above opening hours are inconvenient for your arrival flight, you will take A43 bus to Sheung Shui and from there a train to Lo Wu / Luohu border crossing where you will apply for a Shenzhen VOA.

Please, keep in mind that your flight from Shenzhen to Cambodia is not allowed to have any additional stop of any kind within mainland China.

Exactly. US citizens are always advised to obtain 10 year multiple entry visa for China while still in US. In reality, very good investment.
