About:China Visa Application Requirements

I am invited and the invitee is catering for my stay in China, do I need to show my bank statement?

Jonso, the bank statement is not required. However, if you apply for a tourist visa, you have to join a group tour and cannot get an individual visa on your own.

So does it mean I have to get an S1 visa, because my invitee is a foreigner studying in China, since I cant get a tourism visa on my own.?
