About:China Tourist Visa

Do I need a Visa to stay at a hotel near the airport for one night?

Arrive 2 Feb at 1945 and depart 3 Feb at 0840. I'm a US Citizen

You don't need a visa because you enjoy 24h visa-free transit there.
