About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Philippine Passport Holder

Hi! I am a Philippine passport holder and I will be travelling to HK this Dec. 10, 2019. Aside from HK I will also visit Macau and Shenzhen. My exit point when I go back here in the Philippines is Shenzhen. I want to ask if I still need to apply for a Chinese Visa if I will be staying there in Shenzhen for less than 24hrs, like I will be there at around noon time of Dec.14 and my flight back to Manila is Dec. 15, 3:45am? Also, if I can avail that 24-hr direct transit, can I still roam around Shenzhen and visit some of the tourist destinations there? I will be travelling to Shenzhen from HK via high speed train and not via plane. Thank you.

Unfortunately, Philippine citizens are not eligible for a Shenzhen or Zhuhai VOA and it is also not possible to use 24 hour visa free transit because this option is not available when your exit points are Hong Kong and Macau. In other words, you are advised to obtain a Chinese tourist (L) visa in advance. Indeed, this is the only way how can you accomplish your itinerary.

One more detail. Please, keep in mind that when you exit from Hong Kong or Macau to mainland China, i.e. to Zhuhai or Shenzhen, you cannot return back to Hong Kong or Macau because your Chinese visa would be terminated in that very moment. So, when you decide to enter mainland China, you have to stay there until your departure by plane from Shenzhen to Manila.
