About:China Tourist Visa

Length of visa

Hello - I am planning on visiting China in May but I am spending December-May in Japan. I wish to travel directly from Japan to China. I understand that I need to be in the UK to obtain my visa, so this must be done in the coming weeks.

I am concerned that my visa will expire before May? Is there a way around this, can I obtain a longer visa for 6 months? What would you recommend?

Alex, I think your best choice is to apply for a visa in the visa center in Japan. However, according to their website, non-Japan citizens shall provide documents that entitle them to reside for an extended period of time in Japan and temporary visitors to Japan should apply for a Chinese visa in their own country. I'm not sure whether your visa can be deemed a long-term one. Therefore, please make a call to the visa center there and see if you can apply for your visa there.

It's not advised to apply for it in the UK before December, unless you can get a 6-month or 12-month multiple entry visa.
