China Visa

I have completed China Visa "L" application for myself and husband. We are travelling from US to Shanghai in February 2020. I have all supporting documentation. Do we submit our US passport copy, air/flight information, hotel reservation information along with the application prior to our trip or do we take care of it at the Shanghai airport upon arrival? If we mail - how do we transmit payment.

Sharon, if you don't qualify for 144h visa-free transit in Shanghai, you need to apply for an L visa in the US. You cannot post the application to the Chinese embassy or consulate.
