About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit in Guangdong

Hi there, my family and I will be arriving in GZ on the 24th of December

And staying at an airport hotel for 1 night before transferring to Moscow. We will then return to GZ after 8 days and head straight to Hainan for 3 days on the 2nd of January before returning back to our GZ airport hotel on the 5th and flying home to Australia on the 6th. My question is, would I be able to use the 144 hour visa since I am flying in and out and not reaching 144 hours for each stay? Thank you, Vanessa.

No, unfortunately, you will not be able to use 144 hour visa free transit for your itinerary.

In reality, only your first portion:

Australia - Guangzhou - Moscow is eligible for visa free transit (24 hour visa free transit because you will stay less than 24 hours in Guangzhou).

All the rest requires a visa because you intend to travel:

Moscow - Guangzhou - Hainan - Guangzhou - Australia

As you can see, your flights Guangzhou - Hainan - Guangzhou are purely domestic and this is not really a transit.

To conclude. You need a single entry Chinese tourist (L) visa for the second portion of your itinerary, but you have to be very focused during your first portion of itinerary because you will have to tell to the Chinese immigration authorities that you are just in transit. If you do not explain them on time, they could collect your visa. So, if you are focused, you will travel during your first portion visa free, covered by 24 hour visa free transit and upon your arrival from Moscow, you will activate your visa.

Trust me, there is no any other solution with the itinerary as you have presented it.
