About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit FAQ

Change of Plans

I was granted a 1 entry Visa into China (Guangzhou) but my travel plans have changed. I planned to stay the entire time there but found a cheap flight to visit Hong Kong and Malaysia

6 Days Guangzhou
1 Days Hong Kong
4 Days Malaysia
3 Days Guangzhou and Depart back to United States

I hoped to return to Guangzhou for the remainder of the 3 days in Asia, would I qualify for a three day entry?

In reality, you could make your entire journey visa free :)

Never mind... You can use your single entry visa for your first entry into China where you will stay for 6 days in Guangzhou and after that you can take a high speed train to Hong Kong.

After your stay in Malaysia, you will be definitely eligible for 144 hour visa free transit in Guangdong province under the assumption that your itinerary is:

Malaysia - Guangzhou - US

Of course, I also assume that you will not have any additional stops within mainland China.

To conclude, you can perfectly enjoy your trip with just a single entry visa.

By the way, 72 hours (3 day) visa free transit has been replaced in Guangdong province by 144 hour visa free transit in May of this year.
