Travelling from Sydney Australia to Beijing International airport on Wednesday 20 November 2019 and returning to Sydney from Beijing International airport on Friday 22 November 2019.

Can I obtain a 72 hour visa free transit for this trip

It's not a transit, it's a visit so you have to apply for a visa.
