About:Deluxe Soft Sleeper

Do we have pantry / Food on long distance trains?

Hi,
We plan to travel from Shanghai to Zhangjiajae with family - Husband /Wife and one kid (4 years) in soft sleeper beds. Are we allowed to carry our own food / milk / Bread /Buns etc. or in train, we have a pantry / food service. If yes, do they provide western menu or only Chinese menu. Can we book our food menu in advance along with ticket and do we have food hawkers on train platform selling food stuff also like in India? For dinner / breakfast, can we get on train?
Are there vendor machines in train for water / coke / biscuits etc? also, in night, what is security measures in train for passengers luggage. Do we have any attendant in every coach or passengers are on their own. We ask this as, one berth will remain vacant (we are total 03) so, we cannot lock the compartment. So, please advise if there is enough space below berths to keep our bag and stuff.

In fact it depends on whether the train time cover lunch/dinner time. If yes, there would be meal for sale, but Chinese food. You hardly had a chance to find western food. Food handcart sometimes passby each carriages for snacks and drinks etc. It is allowed to take your own food and many Chinese people do so for overnight sleeper trains. No food hawkers on the platform, they are not allowed to enter station and in fact you do not have much time on platform too as train only stop a few minutes at most stopovers.

There is no particular measures for security of luggage at night time except that train staff occasionally passby. So it is important to keep your valuable belongings with you at night time, normal luggage is just fine on racks. I did not quite get you by the one empty bed, but space under beds can be used for storage and safe in my mind.
