About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Transit Visa

Hi
I'm Syrian in Canada and I'm a permanent resident and I have a travel document, do I need a transit visa in Hong Kong?

I arrived in Jakarta safely on Friday. I was in Urumqi for more than 2 hours since I had to change my flight there from international (cz6022) to domestic (cz387) heading for Guangzhou. I had to go out from the international terminal to collect my luggages and check them back in at the domestic terminal.

Apparently the first flight (cz6022) wad heading for Guangzhou as well, however when I booked the ticket, the system gave me these flights. I don't know why. There were three other people who had the same problem.

Other people who flew to Guangzhou on the same flight (cz6022) only went out of the plane to get in line for an immigration stamp, then went back up to the departure gate.

The security and immigration in Urumqi was quite strict. My wife was asked to remove her head covering. Officers are far from friendly and most of them do not speak English. The immigration process took a long time. It was not a pleasant experience but we got the 24 hour transit without visa.

When checking in my luggages in Urumqi, I was told to collect them directly in

In this case, at least as far as I know, assuming you hold a valid Travel Document Convention 1951. with a Canadian PR card transiting without a visa is possible if you are in direct transit and if holding confirmed onward bookings, continuing your journey within 48 hours and not leaving the transit area.

And what about if want to transit in Philippine, and as I mentioned I have a Canadian refugee travel document, do I need a transit visa?

In other words, you didn't have any problems in both Vienna and Urumqi although flying without a Chinese visa obtained in advance and also having a layover in Urumqi longer than 2 hours?
