About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

72 hour visa free time

I am flying from USA to India with a long layover at Shanghai, will I be eligible for a 72 hour visa free time, if so, where I can go? Also does this policy applies to which Shanghai airport? My flight is China Eastern.

Assuming that your layover will be longer than 24 hours and that Shanghai will be your only stop within China, you are definitely eligible for 144 hour visa free transit regardless of the airport or a terminal. There are several more airports withing Shanghai zone that are eligible for this visa free transit option.

Again, if your layover is longer than 24 hours, you are allowed to enjoy quite a large area:

- Shanghai City
- Zhejiang province
- Jiangsu province

Realistically, you can easily use your all 144 available hours and you will be able to explore this area :)

All the above is valid if your citizenship belongs to a group of 53 eligible countries.

72 hour visa free transit was replaces in Shanghai by 144 hour visa free transit a couple of years ago. Also, you should use correct terminology in the same way as it is in my text.
