If I do Bangkok - Shanghai - Bangkok, I guess it does not work...?

Correct. You need to build a third country into your itinerary. For example, Bangkok-Shanghai-Kuala Lumpur-Bangkok, or Bangkok-Hong Kong-Shanghai-Bangkok, etc.0
