Irish passport: Need to fly to Shanghai from london and back within 48 hour period, do i need a visa

Yes, you need a visa. Actually you can fly from Shanghai to London via a third country so that the visa may be saved.

Thank you for your response, I’m flying via Bangkok and spending a day there then on to Shanghai and then back to London 2 days later. I’m assuming I can get a transit visa on arrival. Is that correct.
