About:How to Travel to China without a Visa

Arrive and depart from different airports

Hi

I wish to arrive into Shanghai and depart from Guangzhou less than 72 hours later. Is that acceptable for no visa travel, or does it need to be in and out of the same airport?

Thanks

Unfortunately, it has to be from the same transit area. It is not necessary that this should be the same airport. For example, you can arrive to Guangzhou, but you can depart from Shenzhen or you can arrive at Beijing and depart from Tianjin.

In your case, you can use both of the mentioned airports only if traveling for less than 24 hours. Only 24 hour visa free transit allows the option to travel through two or more transit areas (in your case, Shanghai and Guangzhou) in a row. Anyway, if your entire transit time exceeds 24 hours for just a minute, you will have to obtain a Chinese visa in advance.
