About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

24 hour visa

hi i leave from USA for Dubai, but have 23 hour lay over in Beijing. Do i need visa or does this qualify for transit visa?

If Beijing is your only stop in China, your itinerary is definitely eligible for 24 hour visa free transit and you don't need any kind of visa.

You are advised to print out your flight tickets and to have those printouts with you. You will declare in US at check-in that you will travel to Dubai via Beijing using 24 hour visa free transit.

Upon arrival in Beijing, you will approach 24 hour visa free transit counter where you will apply for a temporary entry permit to be allowed to exit the airport. You are advised to book your accommodation in advance and to have a confirmation in hard copy. You will present this to the Chinese authorities.

Basically, this is it.

Please, just use correct terminology because this is not a transit visa, but 24 hour visa free transit. In other words a travel without a visa.

Since your layover is very long, I thought that you will want to have a decent sleep in the hotel or some kind of accommodation outside the airport. This is the only reason why did I mention a confirmation copy. Anyway, if you prefer to stay within the airport for the entire length of your layover, you are definitely allowed to do that.
