About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Hi there

I'm flying from Los Angeles to Beijing and have connecting flight to New Delhi with 14 hours 40 mins hrs layover in Beijing . I already have the confirmed tickets from Beijing to New Delhi . I have Indian passport . as well as B1/B2 US visa. Will I be eligible for the 24 hour visa free transit , for going out of the airport or do I need to apply for G visa.

Wit a layover of 14 hours and 40 minutes is definitely eligible for 24 hour visa free transit and you don't need any kind of visa. Anyway, to be allowed to exit the airport, you will have to apply for a temporary entry permit upon your landing in Beijing at 24 hour visa free transit counter. Here you have to be aware that the issuing of this permit is in absolute discretion power of immigration authorities on the day of your arrival in Beijing. In other words, it can be granted to you or denied.

Not it's up to you to decide whether you will try your luck with the mentioned temporary entry permit or will you obtain G visa in advance. If you ask me, obtaining of G visa is useless because we are talking about just 14 hours and 40 minutes. I know it is very boring to wait for such a long time inside the airport, but I also know that 14 hours is too short time to "enjoy" all the hassle that goes along with the issuing of a visa in advance. You will decide.
