About:Chinese Temporary Residence Permit

Live/working in different city than permit

I was asked by my company to say I live/work in a different province (Shanghai) than where I actually lived/worked (Wuhan) - is this okay? I'm assuming it's a law which isn't often enforced (though I still won't do it) I'm just trying to find out whether it was legal or not...
Legal references would be greatly appreciated (as is really hard to search in English)

You had better live and work in the province which is stated on your residence permit to avoid unnecessary troubles. Unfortunately, there is no legal reference for this, but I heard someone was fined because of this.
