About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Haikou 24 TWOV

Hi there

I'm flying from Sydney to Haikou and connecting to Hong Kong with 8 hrs transit. Travelling on separate ticket .

More importantly, I have travelled to Turkey 5 years back for a family holiday. Am I taking a risk with 24 TWOV?

Many thanks for reassuring, so I can go out for short transit tour before my next flight?

In fact my trip to Turkey was a genuine tourism to visit cappadocia hot air balloons. I have been to more than 70+ countries so hopefully I should be fine I guess. I don't want to take risk of deporting as I'm on transit with young family en route to Europe via Hong Kong. Yes have a valid ETA for HK.

Your itinerary is definitely eligible for 24 hour visa free transit. Please, have in mind the details about the visa requirements for Indian citizens for Hong Kong. This is very important detail to be allowed to travel to Hong Kong after you have reached Haikou.

As far as your Turkish stamp is concerned, you just need a prepared story. For example, you will plainly tell that your visit to Turkey was part of your wider visit to different European countries and that your points of interests were historical heritage, natural beauties and gastronomy. Of course, you will not tell that you were interested about religion, cultural exchange, politics and of course, you will deny that you maybe have any friends and relatives there.

Just have a convincing story, if asked and just be relaxed. There is no reason to think that your journey will be jeopardized by the fact that you have a Turkish stamp in your passport.

Great, this is even better. Having the stamps from all over the world is the best explanation for your Turkish stamp. To conclude, just stick to tourism and without politics, religions, friends and similar. You will be perfectly fine.

Since you are traveling on separate tickets, you will be able to make a short tour to Haikou, of course. Please, keep in mind that you will apply for a temporary entry permit at 24 hour visa free transit counter upon your arrival. The application is absolutely free of charge.
