About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Visa 24 Hours

Hi
If I land in Guangzhou am I eligible for 24 hour visa to get the train from the station to Hong Kong later the same day?

The problem is that you must have a ticket with a confirmed seat on the train in your hand when you check-in for your flight to Guangzhou. By the way, there is no "24 hour visa", just 24/144 hours transit without visa.

Ok thanks, so if I book a train ticket and have that printed for say 6 hours after landing that will be ok?

To be allowed to use the train, you have to know that the only train that is eligible is the one departing from Guangzhou East railway station and arriving in Hung Hom railway station in Hong Kong. You will also have to book a ticket for this train in advance and you can do it exactly on this website. You will receive an e-confirmation that you will print out and this e-confirmation will be used as a proof for your visa free transit. Also, you will have to, during the booking process, insert the address, in reality your accommodation, where will the real paper ticket be sent. Please, have in mind that you will have to use exactly that train you have bought your tickets for.

The alternative to train is a ferry departing from Nansha port south of Guangzhou to Hong Kong. You can reach this port by taking a combination of metros to Nansha port. Departures from Nansha are at: 09:00, 13:00, 15:00 and 16:50. Those ferries arrive at Hong Kong China Ferry Terminal (also called Kowloon Ferry Terminal).

To be allowed to use the ferry, you will have to in advance through CKS - Chu Kong Passenger transport company website. After a booking you will receive an e-confirmation that you will print out and take it with you. This will be your proof that you will be really in a transit. Also, you will use this e-confirmation to collect your ticket at Nansha port. Please, keep in mind that you will have to take exactly that ferry you have bought your ticket for.
