About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

layovers and TWOV

I am flying from LAX to Beijing but have a 5 hour layover in Chengdu. We planned on using TWOV when we get to Beijing and stay for 3 days before heading to Thailand. Do we qualify for TWOV in Beijing or do we need a tourist visa since the flight is not direct into Beijing? Does the layover in Chengdu disqualify us for TWOV?

The two stops limit you to 24 hours visa-free transit in China. You must get a visa or change your flights.
