Philippine citizens are allowed to enjoy 24 hour visa free transit in Beijing. So, if your itinerary:

Japan - Beijing - US

Has less than 24 hours long layover in Beijing, you are allowed to travel through Beijing absolutely visa free. Anyway, if your layover in Beijing is just a minute longer than 24 hours, you will have to obtain a Chinese transit (G) visa in advance.
