About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Hello,

I am travelling to the philippines from Europe and I have a 22 hour layover in guangzhou airport to which i plan on just staying inside the airport. Will i need a transit visa if i will only be changing one plane with the same airline (china southern)?

Thank you for your respond. I do have a following up question,
I have a roundtrip ticket, and my returning itinerary says from:
Philippines - Guangzhou - Urumqi - Europe.
And my arrival to Guangzhou, i will have a 22 hour layover while my arrival to Urumqi I have a 15 hour layover.
Does this needs transit visa? If so, do you think purchasing one transit visa for my return will be enough and not my departure (mentioned in my first question above)
Thanks so much.

I have double checked and my flight from Europe to Philippines says I only have one landing which is Guangzhou. My last question is, do you think it would be more efficient if I apply a transit visa online rather than doing it at the airport?.

Graz, if your itinerary is:

Europe - Guangzhou - Philippines

And your entire transit time is 22 hours, you are definitely eligible for 24 hours visa free transit and you don't need any kind of visa.

You are, of course, allowed to stay inside the airport, but I would like to inform you that you are free to apply for a temporary entry permit (no charge at all) upon your landing in Guangzhou, that would allow you to exit the airport and to explore the city. Of course, this is just for your information and decision what to do will be all yours.

Good question. You will need a transit visa for your journey back because you will travel through two Chinese transit areas with the time frame that is longer than 24 hours and for that a transit visa is a must.

To summarize, you will need just a single entry transit visa, for your journey back to Europe. Here you should be extremely careful because of the possibility that Chinese authorities just collect your single transit visa during your journey from Europe to Philippines upon your arrival in Guangzhou. Be very focused and explain to the authorities that you will just remain in the transit area and that you are traveling on 24 hour visa free transit.

By the way, I would like that you check whether do you have some other landing on your way from Europe to the Philippines. Maybe again in Urumqi? Please, check this detail and I hope to see your post here soon.

The only way, you can apply for a Chinese transit (G) visa that you will need for your journey back can be obtained in your country before your travel and you will do it through CVASC in Prague.

Again, when you obtain this single entry visa, be very careful that the authorities in Guangzhou does not collect it upon your arrival in Guangzhou because you will travel this portion of your journey on visa free transit scheme.
