About:How to Travel to China without a Visa

India-Hong Kong-Train to Beijing-Japan


I have a flight from New Delhi to Hong Kong (Oct 19 6am arrival).

Then, a train ticket from Hong Kong to Beijing (Oct 20 8am).

Beijing to Japan with a layover in S. Korea (2am Oct 22 Departure)

Am I able to do a 72 hour visa-free transit?

I enter Beijing via train West Railway Station, the embassy said I’m okay.

Unfortunately not because you have bought a wrong train ticket. You have bought a high speed train ticket from West Kowloon to Beijing South and that is not allowed. The only eligible train for Hong Kong to Beijing route is a conventional through train departing from Hong Kong Hung Hom to Beijing West railway station. In other words, you will have to cancel your train ticket and purchase a new one on a conventional train or to use a plane, but it has to be a nonstop one.

If you do as mentioned, you will be eligible for 144 hour visa free transit in Beijing area. By the way, 72 hours visa free transit has been replaced in Beijing by 144 hour visa free transit a couple of years ago.
