What kind of visa needed?

We land in Hong Kong, stay for 3 days, then travel to Shenzhen and Guangzhou for 3 days, return to Macau for 2 days, then Hong Kong for one night. Also, given the chaos in Hong Kong, we may have to skip Hong Kong and add a few more days in Shenzhen or Guagzhou.

You need a Chinese tourist (L) visa obtained in advance, but if you are willing for some more creative solution, you could also travel completely visa free by using 144 hour visa free transit. To be eligible for this visa free options you will have to do the following:

- Take a direct flight from Hong Kong to Guangzhou
- After your landing in Guangzhou you are free to enjoy 144 hour visa free transit and you can travel throughout the entire Guangdong province
- Take a train or bus to Shenzhen
- Take a ferry from Shenzhen Shekou port to Macau
- From Macau to Hong Kong by bus over HZMB bridge or by ferry

As you can see, this is doable, but keep in mind that to be allowed to make this itinerary, you will have to book your Shenzhen Shekou to Macau ferry ticket online in advance through TurboJet website and you will have to print out an e-confirmation that they will send you to your email. Also, keep in mind that you will have to use exactly that ferry that you have bought your ticket for.
