About:240-hour Visa-free Transit in Chengdu

Heathrow, Chengdu, Singapore

Hi,

I'm looking to fly from London Heathrow direct to Chengdu, stay 3 nights, then fly direct to Singapore. On the way home I am flying Singapore to Heathrow, via Beijing (stopover of 10 hours), would I be OK with the 144 hour visa?

Many thanks

Darren

You don't need a visa. Your first entry in Chengdu will be eligible for 144 hours transit without visa, and your second entry in Beijing is covered by 24 hours transit without visa. To avoid possible confusion, use the correct terminology and not "144 hour visa" (which doesn't exist) or "transit visa" (which is something completely different).

That's great....many thanks. So in Beijing on the way home I can ask OK for a 24 hour transit visa and leave the airport?

Many thanks

No, you will not ask for a transit visa. You will ask for a temporary entry permit within your 24 hour visa free transit. You will make your application upon your landing in Beijing. You will present your flight tickets and tell that you would like to visit some of Beijing attractions. By the way, you should be aware that the issuing of temporary entry permit depends entirely upon immigration discretion.
