About:China Visa Fees

I am flying to Australia from the UK, and I have a stop in China that lasts 10h.

Do I need a Visa for that? and would I be allowed to go out of the airport during that time?

No. It's possible to go out of the airport, but this is at the discretion of immigration officers.
