About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

ICN-PEK-URC-IKA

I read an article from a blog.

The writer wrote his schedule like this

Dec. 15 CZ316 ICN 23:20 - PEK 00:25(+1)
Dec. 16 CZ6931 PEK 07:40 - URC 11:55
Dec. 16 CZ6025 URC 20:40 - IKA 21:15

He wrote he was qualified 24 hour twov in PEK(He posted the photo of his passport). And he stayed outside the URC airport.

I know the transit in URC should be within only 2 hours and only in the international transit area.

I am confused.

Is he qualified for visa free because URC is not the first airport in Mainland China? The rule of transit in URC is applied only when URC is the first airport?

Nabi, the question of URC is a never ending story. People have written so many experiences and there are literally tens of pages regarding this subject. The only place where it is clearly written that 2 hours are a definite limit for visa free transit is Timatic. Probably it is possible to find it on some other relevant place, but tens of visa geeks have not managed to do that.

As you can see, this guy has managed to cross URC airport with his layover longer than 2 hours. Maybe this is possible and maybe when we talk here about these 2 hours, maybe we are all wrong??? Maybe this is an outdated information and the practice is totally different. Anyway, even if this is true, Timatic still has these 2 hours as something actual and the greatest problem is not when you are already in URC, but the problem is in the country from where you will depart to your journey through China. There they can read about this detail and deny you a boarding. You cannot do anything because this is written in Timatic and everything that remains is to cry for your lost money.

If I were anybody who travels via URC on visa free transit and has a layover longer than 2 hours, I definitely suggest to obtain a transit (G) visa in advance and to travel with absolute peace of mind.
