About:240-hour Visa-free Transit in Beijing, Tianjin & Hebei

Transit Visa China: Do I need a hotel reservation?

Hi how are you? I’m planing to travel from Bangkok to Beijing then to Sydney. Is the length of transit visa depending on the onward flight?
Also do I need to present hotel reservation?
What any other documents are needed other than passport and onward flight ticket?

Your help is very much appreciated.

Actually, you are looking for visa free transit and not for a transit visa. The type of your visa free transit will be in direct relation with the length of your entire transit time in Beijing. If the time from your scheduled arrival and your scheduled departure to/from Beijing is less than 24 hours, you will be eligible for 24 hour visa free transit. In case if your layover is longer just for a minute than 24 hours, you will be eligible for 144 hour visa free transit.

You will bring your passport, your tickets in hard copy and a confirmation for at least one night accommodation booking in hard copy too. The last detail is valid in case if your transit is during the night hours or in case if your transit will last for several days.

In reality, this is quite a simple thing.
