Do I need a letter inviting me to china if I just go with my dad? and does the visa last 2yrs?

I am wanting to go to china from the UK with my dad, do we need a letter as we are not going as part of a tour group? does it last 2 yrs and we can enter as many times as we like?

Sam, what type of visas do your dad and you are applying for? You need to specify your question, it's hard to give an answer to it according to what you said.
