Your itinerary:

London - Shanghai - Fukuoka

Is definitely eligible for 144 hour visa free transit in Shanghai area. Of course, your flight should not have any additional landing within mainland China.

You should just print out your flight and cruise tickets and you will present them at check-in in London where you will declare that you will travel to Fukuoka via Shanghai using 144 hour visa free transit in Shanghai. After a short inspection, you will be allowed to board the plane.

Upon your arrival in Shanghai, you will just approach 144 hour TWOV counter where you will fill out the blue form, present your cruise ticket, get a sticker in your passport and that's it.

You can travel with complete peace of mind - absolutely visa free!!!
