Police Registration/Hotel Stay using 144-hr visa

My family and I stayed in Shanghai over two years ago using the 144-hr transit visa rules, even though we only stayed less than 24 hours. We arrived at 2:50 PM and left the next day at 1:30 PM, only staying the night in a hotel. My children were young (6 and 7 at the time), so I’m not sure I remember providing the hotel their passports for the hotel check-in/ police registration, but I know my Wife and I did. In the event I did NOT give the hotel my children’s passports, do you think there will be any issues trying to use the 144-hr transit visa again in the future? I’ve heard horror stories of people being denied entry for not registering. Thank you in advance!

I personally don't think it's a serious problem. Anyway, your kids are so young. As their guardians, you and your wife did the registration. It should be fine. By the way, I also heard that if you stay for less than 24 hours, you don't need to do the registration.

I was thinking the same thing, but I couldn’t find anything that stayed that. Thank you for the info!

You have to register within 24 hours of arrival. if you left before 24 hours its not expected to register.
