About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Paris-Shanghai-Tokyo-Shanghai-Paris

Hello,

Yes its a quite long trip, but i love to travel.
Now back to my question, do i need a visa, if i have a Paris-Shanghai then Shanghai-Paris tickets frome the 28th of september to october 3rd.
This what i planned to do:
- Shanghai-Tokyo on the 29th (the flight have a long stop to Hong Kong 18h i would then have to stay at the Hotel in Hong Kong)
- i will arrived in Tokyo on the 30th (and maybe Okinawa)
- come back in Shanghai on the 2nd and leave to Paris on the 3rd

My question is, do i need a visa or the 172h visa can work?

Hope i was clear, thank you very much in advance for your help.

If your only stops are Paris-Shanghai-Hong Kong-Tokyo-Shanghai-Paris they you don't need a visa. You will qualify for 24 hours visa-free if your stop in Shanghai is under 24 hours, or 144 hours if it's longer than 24 hours (assuming your passport is from one of the 53 qualifying countries).

Thank you very much!
So i can book a hotel for my 9h stay at Hong Kong too? I will be able to go out of the airport? I arrived to Hong Kong at 9:30pm on the 29th and my flight to Okinawa is at 7:35am on the 30th.
