About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Third country is entered bij cruise-ship

Our trip is Zürich - Shanghai - cruise to Japan. We don't have a confirmed return-flight to Zürich within 144 hours, but a booked cruise trip starting at Shanghai (confirmed cruise-booking). Is this possible for the transit-visum?

Yes, this is definitely possible. Here are a couple of easy conditions your itinerary has to fulfill:

- Your flight from Zürich to Shanghai should not have any additional landing within mainland China and in Japan.
- Your cruise is not allowed to have its first port of call, immediately after Shanghai, in mainland China. In other words, if your first port of call is in Japan, this is perfect.

To conclude, if your itinerary has fulfilled the above mentioned conditions, you are definitely eligible for 144 hour visa free transit in Shanghai area. You should just print out your flight and cruise tickets and bring that printouts with you.

By the way, this is not a transit visa, but you will travel absolutely visa free... No visa at all.
