About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Flying Amsterdam 25Oct19 with CX to Shanghai (via Hong Kong)

I'm flying on the 25OCT19 from Amsterdam (via Hong Kong) to Shanghai, arrival 26OCT19 and going that day on a cruise with Holland America Line that departs 27OCT19 that goes to Japan. Do I need a visa or can I get the free transitvisa for 144 hour?

No, you don't need any kind of visa because you are definitely in transit. In reality, you will be probably covered by 24 hour visa free transit because you will probably stay for less than 24 hours in transit between your scheduled arrival from Shanghai, until your scheduled departure from Shanghai. Even in case if your transit is longer that 24 hours, you are fine because in this case you will enjoy 144 hour visa free transit. In nay case, no visa is needed. Travel via Hong Kong is fine because Hong Kong is considered as a third country for visa free transit purposes.
