About:China Private Visit Visa

S-Visa for stepchildren

I'm moving to Shenzhen for work and I would like my wife and stepson to join me.
As I understand, my wife is allowed to apply for an S-visa. Is this also the case for stepchildren?
I would appreciate any advice.
