About:China Family Reunion Visa

can i work in china with a Q2 visa; can i study at the university; can i live in dormitory?

i would like to work or study in china, i have a Q2 visa.
what are the restrictions: do i need a criminal background check to attend university.
If accepted into the university to study chinese language, can i obtain a student card?
if so, how long will the student card be valid for?
living on campus is convenient, while studying language; is this allowed and is the policy country wide
or determined locally; by each individual university?

You can't work or study with a Q2 visa. If you want to study in a school, you should first get admitted by a school. Then you could take the original and photocopy of the Admission Notice issued by a school to change the Q2 visa into a student X visa. The Certificate of Clearance is not required. If you get admitted, you will have a student card. The student card will expire when you finish the course. There are special deparments for international students and you should contact the school and ask.
