About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Do we need a visa?

My family and I will be travelling from Bangkok to Shiang Hai to Osaka and want to stay in Shiang Hai for 4 days. Will we need a visa? By the way, we also hold Australian passports.

Your itinerary is definitely eligible for 144 hour visa free transit in Shanghai, so you don't need any kind of visa. You should just take care that your flights don't have any additional landing of any kind within mainland China. Your Australian passports are fine.
