You can apply for the Z visa. But if you want to work as self employed teacher, you have to obtain a license from Education Bureau.

The prerequisite for obtaining a Z visa is that it must be employed by a Chinese company. You are not employed by individuals. In addition, if you want to engage in language education, your employer must have a school license. China’s language teachers have been strictly controlled since the second half of last year.
