About:How to Travel to China without a Visa

Transit visa with no direct flights

Hi. I'm a French citizen, and I would like to fly from Seattle to Shanghai round trip, spend 2 days in Shanghai and then go to the Philippines for a week (with a Shanghai to Manilla round trip ticket). Fly back to Shanghai and catch my return flight to Seattle. Would I be able to re-enter Shanghai after the Philippines to catch my flight back? Let's say if I don't book my flight with the same airline I will need to clear customs and check in again. Thanks!

This is a round trip within a round trip and this is definitely eligible for visa free transit in Shanghai twice regardless of the nature of your tickets and airlines you will use. The only details that interest Chinese authorities are your citizenship that is obviously eligible and your itineraries that will be:

Seattle - Shanghai - Manila

Manila - Shanghai - Seattle

Definitely eligible for both, 24 and/or 144 hour visa free transit in relation to the time you plan to spend in Shanghai.
