Is is safe going to Macao via HKG Airport?

I plan to land in HKG airport and go to Macau from there. My final destination is Macau and HKG airport is just a transit point. I am aware that within the airport, one can take a ferry to Macao directly, and I don't have to use land transport to go to Macao.
The question is, is it safe to for me to travel to Macao via the HKIA sea route during this time of protest? Will Macao also be affected? Anyone in HKG/Macao can advice?

I also plan to return to home country via Macao port to HKIA and then home country.
Appreciate any advice.

Thanks in advance.

The protests only affect the pre-immigration area. Anywhere in the post-immigration area is unaffected. In your case you won't be going through immigration if taking the ferry to Macau (your luggage will be transferred to the ferry after you have purchased your ticket).
