Transit visa for Guangzhou

I would like to take a ferry from Hong Kong to Guangzhou, stay a 24-144 hours then fly out to Bangkok. Is such a thing possible and eat visa would be needed. If the ferry is not possible can i do it by train

You can only do it by airplane, otherwise you have to apply for a transit visa.
