Is the APEC card ok to enter China or do I still need a visa?

I have an APEC card issued in Hong Kong. I am flying to Beijing from Amsterdam. Is the APEC card ok to enter China or do I still need a visa?

I will just c/p the above statement regarding the APEC Business Travel Card:

The APEC Business Travel Card is regarded as a multiple entry visa valid for three years. With this card and relevant passport, the holder is entitled to enter China for many times within its validity. The duration of each stay should be within 2 months.

Anyway, a more subtle statement regarding this issue follows:

When travelling to an APEC economy that is a fully participating member, ABTC holders do not need to submit a separate application for a visa if they have been granted preclearance to that economy. The granting of preclearance is at the discretion of each APEC economy and it remains the right of each APEC economy to determine who may travel to, enter, and remain in that economy even after a person has been issued an ABTC.

If I were you, I would make a visit to the nearest Chinese embassy or consulate to determine what does really mean and how to obtain a preclearance if necessary.

Helen, maybe your APEC card has already received a preclearance from China. You should look at card's reverse because the names of the countries for which entry preclearance has been given are printed on the card's reverse.
