About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

USA - PVG - Bali - do we need a trasit VISA?

Hi, traveling from USA to PVG (arrive 3:35pm) departing PVG 6:00pm to Bali, trying to get confirmation that we do not need any transit visa. Is 2.5hr enough time to get to connecting flight? We are traveling light, only with carry-ons and have booked tickets thru to Bali on same airline.
Returning we have a 10 hr layover so may be interested in some sight seeing.

Your itinerary is definitely eligible for 24 hour visa free transit, so you don't need any kind of visa. Your transfer time for your first leg is a bit tight, but it is doable since you are traveling on a single (through) ticket.

During your journey back, you will apply for 24 hour free entry permit to be allowed to exit the airport. You should know that the issuing of the mentioned permit is not a passenger's right, but it depends entirely on discretion decision by immigration authorities.
